20th Edition of Zadarska Koka Sets Records with 118 Boats
The 20th annual Zadarska Koka sailing race took place on Saturday, October 26th under a beautiful, sunny sky with light winds — perfect conditions for families with children, and seasoned sailors alike. This milestone year saw a record-breaking 118 boats, with vessels of all sizes racing and creating an unforgettable sight on the water. Zadarska Koka race celebrated not only the long-standing tradition of competitive sailing in Zadar but also the vibrant community of sailors who gathered from across the region.

The race’s name, Zadarska Koka, comes from a traditional type of boat called a chocha (or koka), which has roots in local maritime history. These boats were once commonly used along the Adriatic coast for fishing and transportation. By naming the race after this boat, the event pays homage to regional seafaring traditions and keeps the memory of these classic vessels alive, celebrating Zadar’s deep connection to the sea.
In an impressive performance, Slovenia’s Generali Team (Samo Žvan) took the top spot, followed by Scorpio (Filip Babić) in second and Sayonara 057 (Darko Smrkinić) in third. Among the competitors was our own team, sailing aboard the Jod 35, adding to the excitement of a remarkable race day.
After the race, a lively celebration kept the energy high, featuring local band Sexymotherfuckers, DJ Domagoj, and Supercover Band.
